Overview of the WePlay AniMajor Playoffs

Yesterday the WePlay AniMajor Group Stage ended, and tomorrow the final stage of the championship begins, where the Regional League champions will make their debut. Read more about each of them in this article.

Europe: Alliance

Alliance is one of the most interesting teams of the season. Most analysts had written Alliance off after their defeat at the One Esports Singapore Major 2021, but the joining of ??Peter "PPD" Daguerre as a coach breathed new life into the team. Alliance finished their second DPC: EU season with only one loss, and the region is considered one of the most competitive. During the season, the team rarely experimented and tried to use only meta draft picks.

Currently, Alliance has 800 DPC points and shares a 5th-10th place in the overall standings. To get a direct invite to The International 10, the team must finish WePlay AniMajor in at least 8th place.

China: Team Aster

Another outsider of One Esports Singapore Major 2021 is Team Aster. Unlike Alliance, the high place in their region was expected. In the first Major, the team had to play with substitutes, which didn't allow the team to show good results. But in the Regional League, Team Aster was already in full swing. In their second season at DPC: China, they had only one loss against EHOME, and the team's mid-laner, ??DD, ranked first in average KDA.

At WePlay AniMajor, the team arrived in full strength and ready to win. At the moment, they have the same number of points as Alliance - 800, so to guarantee a direct invite to The International 10, they have an identical task - to enter at least the Top 8.

CIS: Virtus Pro

Virtus Pro is the strongest team in the CIS region. During the DPC season, the team had shown a solid performance and, for the second time, took first place in the regional league, which allowed them to start the Major right from the Playoffs. We cannot say that the team failed One Esports Singapore Major 2021, they took 8th place and got the prize money, but certain conclusions had to be made.

In fact, for Virtus Pro, this Major is only of image interest. The team has already 100% guaranteed its invites to The International 10. This tournament will likely be good practice for players before the main event of the year.

South Asia: T1

Another surprising discovery of the second half of the season. After a disappointing first half, the team parted ways with ??Souliya "JaCkky" Khoomphetsavong and took ??Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon in his place. Apparently, this decision was the right one. Winning their region and a direct ticket to the WePlay AniMajor Playoffs is proof of that. In addition, ??23savage became the best in his league in terms of average KDA.

Right now, the South Asian team has 670 DPC points and is in a temporary 11th place. To keep it and get a direct invite to The International 10, the team would need to move up to at least 8th place, adding 250 DPC points more.

North America: Quincy Crew

One of the two strongest teams in North America. All last year, while Evil Geniuses was on vacation, the Quincy Crew dominated every tournament. This year, with the return of Evil Geniuses, things have changed, and the Quincy Crew is no longer the strongest. But a regional championship says otherwise. The first Major Quincy Crew failed, taking 12th place, so they have to show everything they can.

The team from North America has 800 DPC points. The task for the tournament is the same as for the others - to take a prize place.

South America: NoPing

Unlike previous Regional League winners, few people know about the South American champion. NoPing, in its second season of DPC: SA, knocked the Thunder Predator team out of the race for a slot on WePlay AniMajor. In between the first and second seasons of DPC, a new carry, ??William "hFn" Medeiros, joined the team and started to show impressive results.

Right now, the team is below the minimum threshold for a direct invitational: they have only 585 DPC points at their disposal. The morale for the Major should be combative.
