Rules of Dota Pro Circuit differ in the regions
upd. Tournament organizers ESL and DreamHack have changed the rule about coach-team interactions during matches. Since May 12, coaches are not allowed to communicate with their teams during the game, except for the drafting phase of the match.
Right before the final of the second season of the Dota Pro Circuit Regional League in Europe, a scandal broke out between the participants of the Upper Division, during which it became known that the rules in the regions differ from each other.
It all started with the Alliance's video in which the coach of the team, ??Peter "ppd" Dager, actively prompts and helps his players during the match against Brame. The moment caused a storm of negative comments from OG about the violation of the rules.
Note: In the first season of Regional Leagues, there was a rule that the coach could only be with the team during the draft stage but not during the game.
It turned out that this rule was canceled at the start of the second season in Europe. All organizations received letters, but apparently, no attention was focused on this, which caused a scandal.
The story could be ended here, but the PGL, which is holding the DPC League in South Asia, said that this rule applies in their region and the teams have to abide by it. Thus, it turns out that Regional Leagues in different regions don't have a standard set of rules and change them as they want. There is no public knowledge base that explains all these nuances.
